While I will never be voted most stylish, a few years ago I made a conscious effort to move away from what’s trendy. Instead, I focus on purchasing versatile items of clothing, either at consignment stores or investing in sustainable, more timeless pieces.
Recently, I have become more interested in the idea of creating a capsule wardrobe. I am most drawn to a muted, neutral color palette in solid colors that I can easily accessorize with a piece of minimalist eco-friendly jewelry.
Annaborgia is the more sophisticated big sister to my wardrobe. As they explain on their website, “Our concept is to build a capsule wardrobe collection (and keep adding to it) of essentials that will never go out of style, making Annaborgia the go-to brand for women that are not interested in following short lived trends.”
With its carefully sourced, animal-friendly fabrics, Annaborgia is a clothing company you can feel great supporting! Founder and Creative Director, Daniela Degrassi, is here to tell you a little more about her company.

Daniela shares, “We look forward to seeing ethical fashion become mainstream in the future years. We feel the attention is growing and the Slow Fashion movement is so much more than a fashion statement! We give a voice to all the underpaid workers, animal rights, the health of our environment. It’s a win-win for all!”
Tell us a little about your company.
Annaborgia was born to create a more conscious alternative to wedding attire, with re-wearability in mind. Our minimalist yet versatile glamour blends classic and modern, designed for comfort with a strong feminine touch. Supporting Fair Trade we produce in USA and Italy through fair trade practices using cruelty-free (vegan) and toxic-free dyes textiles. In 2016 we won Best Sustainable Collection at the San Francisco Fashion Community Week.
What makes your company sustainable/eco-friendly? What inspired you to create this type of business?
Working in the wedding industry as a photographer, I witnessed first hand the over-the-top styles of bridesmaid dresses, to me it was such a waste because such gowns don’t usually get worn again. This thought motivated me to create a clothing line that would be ceremony-friendly while providing brides and bridesmaids the ability to re-purpose their looks well beyond the wedding. Our goal is to break the rules of wedding attire and become game changers going into the future.
What tips or advice would you offer to someone who is trying to live a more eco-friendly/sustainable lifestyle?
It can be overwhelming! Luckily, the internet provides lots of inspiration. There are many ethical lifestyle bloggers that share the best practices to live green, from food to cruelty-free beauty and fashion. And you don’t have to make changes overnight, small steps are the best to ease into a new lifestyle! It can be challenging but also very rewarding and quite powerful to reinvent ourselves and feel like our small everyday changes can have a positive impact on our beautiful planet.
