I am thrilled to have my friend Dean (aka Mrs. AOK), who blogs over at Mrs. AOK: A Work in Progress, share with you a fantastic coconut oil scrub DIY. While Dean and I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting in person, we have really connected over the past year. She is unbelievably creative and hilarious and such an amazing mom. She puts together the most amazing lesson plans together for her children who she homeschools and makes learning really come alive for them. I am really looking forward to trying out this tutorial she put together (which I can practically smell through my computer screen!) and hopefully getting to meet her in person on day!
Hello, Linkouture readers! I am excited to be here today, it truly means a lot to me that Bev has trusted ME to guest post on her lovely blog. I mean.. SO many things could go wrong: you could hate me, I could hypnotize you and have you send me loads of money, I could drop 50,000 f-bombs, I could keep going. In spite of that, Bev trusts ME, therefore I will do my best to impress you, you can still send me loads of money (I will not hypnotize you though), and I will be on my best behavior, because everyone knows f-bombs do not happen until waaaaay after the babies are asleep. 🙂 I would not do anything to jeopardize my friendship with Bev. I absolutely adore Bev, her family, her blog, and her beautiful jewelry.
I am a regular here, I try not to miss a post. Over the last few months I am not sure if I have missed a post (Bev, have I missed a post? I hope not). It is an absolute pleasure to catch up with Bev, to see her create, mother, plan, and love. Last week I learned something new, Bev, has found a new love…. coconut oil. I have been using coconut oil for sometime for cooking and beauty. I was a little apprehensive at first when switching over to coconut oil for cooking, because I did not want my food to taste “coconutty”- it doesn’t. I thought coconut oil would make me feel super greasy, if you are doing things right, you’ll be just fine.
So in honor of Bev’s new love of coconut oil, today, I’m sharing a super simple DIY sugar scrub using coconut oil and things you can find in your pantry.
This sugar scrub will make you feel AMAZING, not greasy! With summer coming up (and Mother’s Day 😉 ) I think you’ll enjoy this Lime and Coconut Sugar Scrub.
Here is what you will need:
- 1 cup of sugar
- 2/3 cup coconut oil
- 1/3 cup coconut flakes
- 1 lime (for juice and zest)
Start adding you ingredients to a bowl.
I suggest taking your rings off, because in a little bit you are going to get your hands in there.
Put de lime in de coconut. 🙂 Add your lime juice. (I couldn’t take a picture of myself doing this, so I used my little hand model. Plus, I hadn’t used the scrub yet, so my hands weren’t camera ready anyway.)
Add your coconut and get your zest on, the more the better. 🙂
Now, get your hands in there and mix it all up. (If your scrub is a little watery just add more sugar)
Place your scrub in a jar and enjoy!
