How to make a ridiculously simple pair of spiral earrings

These handmade spiral dangle earrings are easy to make using just just jump rings and ear wires.

Imagine it: you’re walking down the aisle of your favorite craft store and you wander upon the jewelry aisle. Looking at all the supplies and materials, you have this sudden urge to design your own jewelry.

However, you feel overwhelmed. What tools should you buy first? What supplies do you need? Do you buy wire or string? Beads or jump rings or both?

AHHHHHHHHH!

Believe me, I know, because I’ve been that person.

But don’t worry, we’re going to ease into it. Today you are going to learn how to easily make your own earrings, a beautiful pair of simple spiral earrings, with minimal supplies and only one tool.

Ok, technically two, but it’s two of the same tool, and if you follow this blog you will see you will use two pairs of flat nose pliers over and over again.

The basis of the earrings are two sets up 3-ring mobius spirals. The ones shown in this tutorial use 18-gauge 7.0 mm inner diameter sterling silver jump rings and 18-gauge 4.5 mm inner diameter rings, but you could go with bigger or slightly smaller rings.

They’re connected together with two smaller jump rings, but you could do just one to hold them together.

I personally prefer a simple fish hook ear wire, but you could go with any style that you prefer.

It might be tough to find the jump rings at your local craft store — I highly recommend the Etsy stop CreatingUnkamen. They’re a family-owned business and super lovely. (I started my chainmaille jewelry buying supplies from them.)
