A day in the life of a creative mompreneur

As a YoGetter, I received free Stonyfield products for this post. All opinions are 100% my own. I do genuinely love their products, though, and they have been a staple in my home for years!

Today I am going to offer you a little peek of what a typical day looks like for me. I’ve seen these types of posts before and I always think they’re so fun! It’s been on my blog idea list for well over a two years (would have been so interesting to compare what it was like pre-baby days!), so I am excited to finally share my day with you.

5:30 am Alarm goes off. My cat, Leo, joins me in the living room as I do some deep breathing and stretches (he’s usually in my face trying to get my to pet him, which can be a bit distracting as I try to focus on my breathing!)

5:45 am Open up my computer. If it’s a Monday, Wednesday or Friday, put the finishing touches on a blog post that is due to go live at 7:00 am

6:30 am Read and comment on some blog posts. I have my list of “Must reads” in Bloglovin, and if there’s time I will try to read a few more

7:00 am Eve starts to wake. I finish whatever I’m working on while Sam gets her up.

7:15 am Move to the kitchen. I brew a cup of coffee for myself and eat breakfast with Sam and Eve.

7:45 am Eve and I head to the living room while Sam gets ready for work. Eve plays while I drink my coffee and spend a few minutes reading (well, attempting to read since she usually is trying to get my attention).

8:15 am I start to get Eve and I ready to head out. I check that Eve’s diaper bag has everything I need and pack a snack for her and get her dressed. Eve follows me around as I put on my gym clothes and pack my gym bag with a change of clothes, my makeup bag with the couple essentials I use every day, my water bottle and a high-protein snack such as nuts or a bottle of Stonyfield OP Organic Protein Smoothie.

I get pretty hungry between meals, especially if I’m exercising, and I need something that is going to keep my energy level high to keep up with Eve! The OP smoothies come in three very tasty flavors — chocolate, vanilla and strawberry — and have 15 grams of protein and no artificial sweeteners and are perfect for busy moms on the go!

8:45-10:30 am Gym time! Eve hangs out in the childcare room while I take an exercise class or hit the elliptical. Afterwards I take a shower at the gym (yay for towel service!) before picking up Eve.

10:30 am We drive over to our morning playgroup. I enjoy my Stonyfield smoothie and we listen to music on the 15-minute drive.

10:45-12:00 We get ourselves situated and Eve has her snack before the playgroup starts at 11:00

12:00-12:45: Back home! I prepare a quick lunch for Eve — usually hummus or peanut butter on toast and veggies, or leftovers from dinner — before putting her down for her nap.

12:45-2:30: Lunch for me while I do work. I either have leftovers from dinner; peanut butter, honey and bananas on toast with a side of veggies; or yogurt and salad. I find the Stonyfield Greek and Chia, a combination of Stonyfield’s creamy organic Greek yogurt with chia seeds mixed in, to be perfect! They come in four delicious flavors — blood orange, pear, red berries and blueberry — and are the perfect part of a healthy and tasty lunch.

I make my way through my to-do list and use the Pomodoro app to use my time as productively as possible, especially since Eve’s nap is somewhat unpredictable (between 1 1/2-3 hours) and I never know quite what I’m going to get done. I use this time to do things like schedule social media, read my e-mail, fix up some old blog posts, apply to craft shows, and update my Etsy shop.

2:30: Eve is up! We play for a few minutes before I change her out of her pajamas and put on a clean diaper.

3:00: Eve and I have a small snack. She, of course, wants to eat all the food. (She’s definitely my daughter!). Usually we have some fruit, ricotta cheese with crumbled nuts, or Stonyfield yogurt with frozen berries mixed in.

3:00-5:00: We meet up with a friend at a local playspace. Eve has fun climbing through tunnels and chasing around balls.

5:00-6:00: After walking home I start to get dinner ready. I attempt to comfort Eve from the kitchen while she plays in the next room. Our kitchen is unfortunately not very well set up for her to play in there while I cook; now that she’s into all the things I worry about her getting hurt. I like to make something simple like my lentil stew or a recipe from How to Cook Everything Fast [affiliate link] by Mark Bittman. I also use this time to clean some dishes while I stream a television show or listen to a podcast. After a long day, I find it surprisingly soothing.

6:00-6:30 Sam comes home and we have a family meal. We talk about our day (and, admittedly, how cute we think Eve is!)

6:30-7:00 Sam and I take turns either getting Eve ready for bed while the other one cleans up from dinner.

7:00 Eve is in bed. We can hear her happily chatting to herself before she drifts off to sleep shortly before 7:30. Meanwhile, Sam and I tidy up around the house, trying to get things back in order from the day. Sometimes I also use this time to get some work done, but I find my brain just doesn’t function quite as well after 5:00.

8:00 Sam and I sit down to watch a tv show together. Lately we’ve been watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. It’s a bit silly, but a fun way to unwind at the end of a busy day. (By the way, if you’re looking for some unique at-home date night ideas, I wrote a post on Care.com about this very thing! I hope you’ll take a moment to check it out.)

9:00 Time to start getting ready for bed

9:30 In bed with a good book. I like to read until I am too tired to anymore.

10:00 Goodnight!
